Bill Kreger

I was in the Navy from 1943-46 where I got a BS in Mech. Eng. at Case Inst. of Tech. in Cleveland, and a commission in the Navy. I spent the year 1946-47 getting a BS in physics at Miami under Ray Edwards, a very enthusiastic and stimulating head of the department. He arranged an assistantship at Univ. of Illinois, where I got an MS and PhD in Nuclear Physics from 1947-1952. My work experience was 1952-1969 at U.S. Naval Radiological Defense Lab. in San Francisco, 1969-1972 at Physics International Co., San Leandro, CA, 1972-1982 at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Bethesda, MD, and then during retirement I worked for the Washington State Division of Radiation Protection in Seattle, WA. I've been married to Bette McClure Kreger for 59 years and we have children Robert and Clover.

"Doing physics at Miami in 1946-47 was a fun and exciting experience with a group of both veterans and high school graduates. Ray Edwards really loved physics and imparted that love to his students. I enjoyed the time very much."
