Research Summary:
My research agenda runs on two main tracks, with an occasional side trip. One of the main tracks is research into undergraduate physics laboratory classes, where I have studied student learning, including the development of critical thinking, and attitudes. I do take side trips to research students’ critical thinking in other areas, as evidenced by their problem solving and their writing. The other main track is K-12 science education, where I have studied the professional development of teachers. I also look at the attitudes and achievement of girls in K-12 education, with side trips to discuss undergraduate women and under-represented minorities in the sciences.
